Dr. Carol Eisenstat, a board-certified anesthesiologist and founder of Line Eraser MD, was recently featured in The Mirror US in a report examining the potential dangers of injecting gold and other extreme looksmaxxing practices.
Why Injecting Gold Can Be Dangerous
The article followed reports that the late fitness influencer Connor Murphy had allegedly experimented with injecting gold. Dr. Eisenstat cautioned that the body has no biological use for injected gold and does not metabolize it as a normal nutrient.
She also outlined documented complications associated with gold exposure, including chrysiasis, a permanent blue-gray discoloration of the skin, as well as potential kidney damage, bone marrow suppression and liver injury.
Importantly, the report did not establish that injecting gold caused Murphy’s death. Toxicology results were still pending when the article was published, and the practice was discussed as a separate health concern rather than a confirmed cause.
